WE get both Black-capped and Mountain Chickadees in the west. I think you are
right about the Sierras being home to Mt. chickadee. I spend lots of time
in the Cascades of Northern California where I see both - Black capped at
lower elevations, and Mt. Chickadee higher up. Been a while since I've
been in the Sierras - time to go back. -- I sometimes conflate the two moutain ranges even though they are very very different in both geology and habitat. thanks.

Oh, noho_bird_club -please continue to share your picts. It's so nice to drool over the birds we don't get on the west coast. Now, if you get warbler picts, please share too, but
not too much -- we'll be so sad because we don't get all of those in the west. --- just
kidding -- we'd love to see those too.

Love those photos - nice birds for yard birds... You are very fortunate. The picts are
wonderful too!- good shots.

I like your Tufted Timouse. In the S.F. Bay area, we have the Oak Titmouse, which
sometimes nests in a nest box in my back yard. Black capped chicadees are common
in the Sierras. I have the Chestnut backed chicadee at my back yard feeders,
especially at the _hummer_ feeder. :-)
The White Breasted nuthatch is also common, but not in back yards - I've seen it in
the SAnta Cruz Mts., and in the Sierras.

Is that a Red-bellied woodpecker? We don't get those on the west coast. It's quite beautiful as is your Rose-breasted grosbeak. We don't get those either!

We do get American goldfinch, and Downey's, both of which have been in my back yard.
And of course, we don't get Blue Jays or Cardinals here either.

So, we get some of your birds. But, that grosbeak and woodpecker are certainly treats. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Thank-you for sharing those amazing photos of the birds at your feeders. The only one I knew was the Red cardinal. That bottom one must be a relative of the pygmy nuthatch. The next to the bottom one is so beautiful and looks like he has make-up on. The yellow one is from the finch family and I have no idea what the rest of them are. I better start studying. Anyway you make me want to go out and buy some feeders. I did put up two hummingbird feeders yesterday and they are already feeing out of it. Thanks again noho_bird_club for those beautiful pictures.
